Kindness is Contagious

I just want to take a few moments to write about kindness. Too often we’re so consumed with our problems that we fail to realize everyone around us is on their own journey.

I like to smile and ask people how they are doing, especially those people in customer service. Sometimes it
catches them off guard but it is always appreciated. We’re all just people no matter what side of the table you’re sitting on.

Tonight I reposted an Instagram photo of a total stranger’s plea to help find their stolen dog. When I thought of his heartache, it took me less than a second to realize I needed to help spread the word. He doesn’t even live in the same city as me, but what if my friends know people in that area?

I am also reminded of those people who push their way in lines or weave around cars. We’re all friends. What’s the big freaking deal? It’s a stupid free t-shirt. It’s a two minute red light. What if that person is driving really slow because they just got devastating news?

Take a moment to step outside of yourself when you feel like you’re losing patience. Better yet, just smile. Happiness and kindness are contagious. Catch it and spread it.
