We all have dreams and desires. How often do you listen to your inner voice? The one that is in pure harmony with your heart and soul when you’re doing something that you love.
Recently, I saw a commercial for a retirement planning company on TV. The premise of the commercial was people writing out what they love to do. The commercial ends with a spokesperson telling viewers to set up a retirement plan so that they can do what they love when they retire. I went from enjoying watching people define their passion to being sad that we are accustomed to thinking that your “work” isn’t something you love. Last week I saw this post from Dr. Wayne Dyer’s Facebook page:
Makes sense right? I can’t tell you what your true calling is, you already know what it is. If you don’t, you’re not listening to yourself. The answers are always within you. That’s the amazing thing about your soul.
Personally, my passions are writing and helping people. I want to combine those two things with my other passion for learning about and applying all that is metaphysical including psychic development, medium channels, and spiritual growth. Most recently, I became a certified Reiki Master.
Of course, there are other things in my life that I like “to do,” such as boating, working out, and going to concerts, but these activities do not serve my soul’s purpose. The difference from what my passion is and my hobbies are, is that my hobbies are my outlet where I relieve stress and relax. Not that my passions are stressful by any means, but they are separated by the fact that my heart and soul are aligning to bring these passions to the forefront of my daily life.
I’m on a path that includes the discovery of my soul’s purpose and I’m listening to it more and more. It’s the reason that I’m here writing this blog before starting my work day. Lucky for me, my work involves writing and being creative so I enjoy it, but it’s still a “job.”
What’s your true passion? What can you do now that is align with what you love? What’s in your heart and soul? Maybe it’s a simple as starting to take a class or reading a book or joining a group with like-minded people. Whatever it is, don’t wait until you’re retired or life settles down enough for you to listen to your soul. Act on your purpose now.
One more piece of advice, go easy on yourself. No one knows exactly what they are doing. Even those people who appear wildly successful and who are living out their dreams. We all have a path that we are meant to follow, just be open to yours.
What’s your life’s passion? What do you really feel is your soul’s purpose? Leave your answer in the comments.
